Product and Service Review

Igomogul.com

The first review I want to do is on a company call Igomogul.com. I recently had an experience with them which I am not going to say was horrible, but it certainly was not the best either. Igomogul.com is a company that sets up blogs and does the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for you. Well, that’s not all that they do, but that was what I was working with them on. The person whom I first spoke with immediately passed me to his manager who was kind of like a sales manager. Now this guy could talk a pretty good game. He was telling me that for $199.00 they would create a blog for me and as long as I did regular post to it and overall kept up the blog that they would have me on the first page of results on google. He actually said at one point that they would have me to the number 1 spot with google. I told him that I would have to think about it and we set up a time for a week later to talk again. A week later he called and we spoke again for quite a while and he was basically telling me that I could not do it myself. He said “without Igomogul.com I would never get to the first page of results.” So I decided to go ahead and do it. I gave him my credit card info and they charged me $199.00 and sent me a contract that I had to sign and send back. When I got the contract I started to read it over and there was a section in it that said that I was giving up my right to cancel the charge or do a reverse charge. It went as far to say that I could not dispute the charge for any reason at all. I was not real happy with this section of the contract because basically if I signed that they could have told me to beat it and not done anything for me, and there would have been nothing I could have done about it. So, I decided that I would write a provision in the contract that said as long as they provided me with the service that was outlined in the contract that they were supposed to provide to me that I would not cancel the charge or do a reverse charge, and I faxed it back to them. This was late in the evening so the next day I received a call from the sales manager that I had been dealing with and he said that they would not accept the contract with what I wrote in it. I told him that if they wanted to type it in that would be fine with me, but they didn’t want it in the contract at all. He went on to tell me that if they were screwing people over that they would not be as big and successful as they are and they would not have all of the big named clients and business associates that they do. My response to that was, if they were doing the great job that he claimed that they do, and if they are as big of an organization as he claimed they are, and if they were really going to do everything that they said they would in the contract, then they shouldn’t have a problem with guaranteeing what they say. After talking this over for what seemed like hours we hung up with it still not resolved. I received about 3 or 4 more calls from different people within the company and not one of them was willing to put anything in writing to make me feel more comfortable with the deal. Meanwhile I did a google search on Igomogul.com and it was not good. About everything that came back was some sort of complaint. Then I received the final call from them. It was a guy that tried to talk me into just going on with the deal and to sign another contract without my provision that I wrote in the first one. What was funny was he contradicted the sales manager that I spoke with by saying that it would take a lot more than $199.00 to get a good blog site that would make it to the first page of results on google. He was also very rude. I told him that I just wanted a refund and to forget about the whole thing. I did get my refund after about a week, but I am not so sure that I would have received a refund if they had a contract signed without the provision I put in it. So overall I can’t say that I would recommend doing business with them and if you do decide to work with them just be careful and don’t give them anything you can afford to lose. I would also try to get them to change the wording in their contract about the reverse charge provision.
